Em tempos tinha o hábito frequente de gravar CDs com compilações musicais escolhidas por mim. Antes disso cheguei a fazer cassetes. Sim, sou desse tempo. Agora fico-me mais pelas playlists no iTunes. Ainda me estou a habituar a que o Musicbox tenha todo o catálogo e funcionalidade que quero. Neste caso tentei, mas quando a contagem de músicas em falta ia em quatro, desisti. Há uns anos, não me recordo quantos, eu era fã da banda belga dEUS. Ainda sou, mas menos. Na altura ouvia repetidamente os albuns, do rock mais delirante ao acústico mais intimista. Confesso que o acústico ouvia mais vezes.
Há uns anos, continuo sem me recordar quantos, o vocalista dos dEUS, Tom Barman, fez uma tournée acústica, acompanhado pelo amigo e pianista Guy Van Nueten. Vi-os no Paradise Garage e foi uma revelação. Corri a comprar o CD duplo quando saí e ainda hoje o ouço (está no carro, com mais uma mão cheia).
O repertório é variado, incluindo músicas de dEUS que eu já adorava ("Nothing Really Ends", "Little Arithmetics", "Serpentine" ou "Right As Rain" - abaixo, em vídeo, na televisão italiana em 1995), mas também covers escolhidas a dedo, de Joan Mitchell a Nick Drake, passando por um curtíssimo "My Funny Valentine".
