Song Exploder

From the Song Exploder official site:

Song Exploder is a podcast where musicians take apart their songs, and piece by piece, tell the story of how they were made. Each episode is produced and edited by host and creator Hrishikesh Hirway in Los Angeles. Using the isolated, individual tracks from a recording, Hrishikesh asks artists to delve into the specific decisions that went into creating their work. Hrishikesh edits the interviews, removing his side of the conversation and condensing the story to be tightly focused on how the artists brought their songs to life. Guests include Björk, U2, Metallica, Solange, and over a hundred more. Full list of episodes.

4 Degrees

ANOHNI, the lead singer from Antony and the Johnsons, has collaborated with Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never on “4 DEGREES.”  It is a bombastic dance track celebrating global boiling and collapsing biodiversity.  Rather than taking refuge in good intentions, ANOHNI gives voice to the attitude sublimated within her behavior as she continues to consume in a fossil fuel-based economy. To support the Paris climate conference, ongoing this December, ANOHNI releases “4 DEGREES,” the first single from her upcoming album HOPELESSNESS.

"4 DEGREES” emerged earlier this year in live performances. As discussed by ANOHNI, "I have grown tired of grieving for humanity, and I also thought I was not being entirely honest by pretending that I am not a part of the problem," she said. "'4 DEGREES' is kind of a brutal attempt to hold myself accountable, not just valorize my intentions, but also reflect on the true impact of my behaviors.”

ANOHNI’s “4 DEGREES” is available today via Rough Trade. ANOHNI, Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never will play select performances in the months to come. More shows will be announced soon, along with more information about this collaboration and ANOHNI’s HOPELESSNESS.
